Job Description:

Microchip products are at the heart of millions of consumer devices and networks, and we are looking for an exceptional person to join our team. A candidate placed in this position will be a major contributor in the USB and Networking Applications Team, focused on bringing advanced connectivity devices to market.

The candidate should have a strong knowledge of high speed communication interfaces and integrating them into larger systems. Experience with Ethernet Switches and Ethernet communication on the PHY and MAC layer is required. Experience with EtherCat, Profinet, and T1 Phys is a plus.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop collateral such as application notes, data sheets, reference designs for new product development.
  • Develop and present technical training such as webinars and hands-on workshops to customers, sales and field application engineers
  • Provide direct technical support to sales and field application engineers as well as key strategic customers.
  • Work in a team environment and interact with Design, Validation, Product /Test and Marketing teams.
  • Work with Marketing and Sales team to identify new applications and market spaces and assist in the definition of new products.
  • Act as the Applications representative on various new product development projects.


Qualifications/Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical, Computer Engineering or Computer Science with 12.5+ years of experience
  • Experience as a team lead
  • Low level Ethernet protocols on the PHY and MAC layer up to 1 Gb speeds (10 or 25 Gb Ethernet experience a plus)
  • Schematic design and review
  • System design
  • Experience with Linux environments, Linux Debug tools, building Kernels, and driver installs
  • Strong working knowledge of hardware/software debug and Lab equipment, e.g., Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, Protocol Analyzer (any protocol)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lead projects, prioritize tasks, and execute to schedules
  • Comfortable interfacing with a variety of engineering groups (Design, Verification, Validation, and Production Test)
  • Experience in technical training development and presentation.
  • Experience in direct customer service and support.
  • Experience in Industrial Control Systems such as Profinet or EtherCat

Additional skills that are a plus, but not required:

  • Familiarity with ARM, PIC microcontroller architectures and with microcontroller development/design using C and/or C++
  • Understanding of communication protocols for SPI, I2C, DDR memory, and NAND flash storage devices.
  • 10/100/1000 BASE-T1 Ethernet
  • 10 Gb, 25 Gb Phys
  • MACsec and PTP protocols
